Eliza has a degree in economics from La Trobe University, and a PhD in international law from the Australian National University. She is also a qualified barrister (Lincoln s Inn) and solicitor (England and Wales).

She has worked as an economist for the Australian government; lecturer at the ANU, LSE and LMU; and as a self- employed writer and lawyer. She has written about human rights regimes and is presently updating her co-authored book The Liberal Project and Human Rights: The Theory and Practice of a New World Order (CUP, 2008).

She is involved on a voluntary basis with a number of organisations including Peter Drucker Society Europe and Défence Sans Frontières.”
