MENA2050 was honored to lead a briefing at the residence of the Swiss Ambassador in Israel, bringing together participants to discuss the future of the India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) and its role in advancing regional integration, resilience, and economic growth.
The discussion was led by MENA2050 CEO Eli Bar-On and Professor Shlomo Hasson from the MENA2050 IMEC Task Force. They presented MENA2050's vision for IMEC's evolution from a transportation initiative into a broader framework for connectivity, economic diversification, digital cooperation, and regional coordination.
Participants explored how changing geopolitical realities increase the importance of resilient trade routes, trusted digital infrastructure, and cross-border cooperation. The conversation also addressed the role of regional value chains, infrastructure integration, and the opportunities IMEC may create for long-term economic growth across the Middle East and beyond. A particular focus was placed on the need to move beyond viewing IMEC as a single corridor and instead understand it as part of a wider network of interconnected systems linking transportation, energy, digital infrastructure, logistics, and regional development. The crucial role of civil society in IMEC's development was also discussed.
MENA2050 remains committed to fostering dialogue and practical cooperation around regional connectivity initiatives that can contribute to greater resilience, prosperity, and stability across the Middle East and North Africa.
