Dr. Ghazi Ben Ahmed

MENA2050 is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Ghazi Ben Ahmed as Co-Chair of the Regional Vision Team, alongside Dr. Omar Al Ubaydli.


Dr. Ben Ahmed is an international geostrategy advisor and former European Commission official with extensive expertise in trade negotiations, regulatory policy, and global economic governance. As Founder of the Mediterranean Development Initiative (MDI), a Tunis- and Brussels-based think tank, he works extensively on strategic development, cross-border cooperation, and economic transformation across the Mediterranean and Middle East. He currently advises governments, sovereign entities, and multinational corporations on geopolitical risk, market entry, and strategic capital deployment.


Earlier in his career, Dr. Ben Ahmed led the design and launch of the African Development Bank’s inaugural $1 billion Trade Finance Program, expanding access to capital across emerging markets.


In his new role, Dr. Ben Ahmed will draw on his long-standing engagement across the region to help shape forward-looking frameworks and actionable pathways for cross-border cooperation. MENA2050 warmly welcomes Dr. Ben Ahmed and looks forward to his strategic leadership alongside Dr. Al Ubaydli in advancing the Regional Vision Team’s mission.
